Unconventional Places to Say I Do

Typically the first thought that runs through your mind after you get engaged is ‘so where are we gonna do this thing?’. Many couples are getting creative with their venues, and with the shift in weddings this year there is a greater desire to tie the knot in non-traditional places. These venues resonate closely with a couple’s passion, hobby or create an experience in itself to share with their guests. To inspire your wedding venue search, here a list of 15 unique places:

1. Breweries and Distilleries 

A modern and fresh take on winery weddings, brewery and distillery venues. These sites are perfect for an industrial-chic aesthetic with the additional perk of various craft beers and spirits on tap.

2. Treehouses

Talk about taking your relationship to new heights! Treehouse venues are perfect for childhood sweethearts, and they’ve come a long way since you were a kid.  

3. Antique Store

Do you spend your time thrifting and searching for unique vintage pieces? Then you’ll love the idea of an antique wedding store venue. Rather than adding vintage items into your wedding, your venue has it covered. 

4. Theaters

Calling all performing arts enthusiasts’! You’ve imagined your name on a marquee in front of a theater before, but have you ever entertained the idea that it could be alongside your partner? You may consider declaring your vows on stage and dancing the night away at a movie theater.

5. Gym

In strength we unite! For the fitness guru’s, cross fit couples and more, the gym might be a symbolic part of your story. The dedication and hard work that manifests, might make the gym your ideal venue.

6. Summer Camp and Retreats

If summer camp is one of your favorite past times, let your inner child play at a Campsite! Burning s’mores, campfire songs and stargazing with your guests will certainly bring you all the warmhearted feels when you say I do.

Often find yourself getting lost in the world’s greatest romantic novels and classic tales? Then why not get married beside them. Libraries have beautiful architecture and ornate details guaranteeing a sophisticated spot to tie the knot.

Yes, believe it or not there is a perfect venue for couples who would rather spend their time underwater than on land. Some aquariums allow you to exchange vows underwater- be sure to expect some great photo bombing opportunities from your aquatic friends!

Roller coasters, carousels, and cotton candy… Oh my! If you’re into that sort of thing, getting hitched at a theme park will be the ride of your life. Step on up, it’s your turn!

For the coffee shop romantics or the coffee-loving couples, you might consider tying the knot café style. On your special day, guests will have warm cups and warmer hearts.

The perfect venue for the gamers at heart. Instead of incorporating video games into your wedding, why not get married in an arcade? Think about it: every game you’d rent or buy is already there and more.

Coachella, South by Southwest, Bonnaroo…any of these festivals catch your attention? If yes, then the free spirit, outdoorsy festival site is a great match for your boho-chic theme wedding.

Adrenaline chasing and adventurous couples only! Love has got you free falling and what more of a thrill seeking adventure than expressing your love while plunging out of the sky with a skydiving wedding. 

14. Bridge

A bridge wedding venue, that’s anything but basic! The symbolism here is colossal, enough said. If this speaks to you, consider uniting as one on or under a bridge.
